The ‘lady killer’ and ‘the archers’ are 2 different radio shows that some people may listen to. The ‘lady killer’ is like a podcast that talks about heinous crimes committed by women. However, ‘the archers’ is a radio drama that is about farm life in the countryside with different storylines within the drama.
The definition of personnel is people who are employed or engage with an organisation and their work, in other words employees. These radio shows would have different personnels due to the different aspects about the radio shows. In the lady killer their personnels would be presenters, narrators, special guests, and their crew (editors, writers, sound technicians etc). Whereas, in the archers their personnel would be slightly different. This is because they would have a lot of voice actors instead of presenters and narrators due to the radio drama being a soap opera.
The mode of address for the lady killer is the way the presenter talks and interacts with their audience. Lucy Worsley is the presenter of the show who speaks formally and clearly to her audience to explain and educate their audience about the crimes committed. Whereas, in the archers their mode of address is how clear they can depict a storyline to their listeners. This is because they are trying to tell multiple stories but would have to try and explain it well so the listeners can understand and imagine what is happening. However both radio shows have similar modes of address as they both convey the social roles and identities of the characters. this is because in the lady killer the people hosted are seen as charismatic or charming and in the archers the characters are seen as formal and well mannered.
The tone of the lady killer is mysterious and suspenseful. This is to engage the listeners as it is a true crime radio show so this type of tone would fit the atmosphere. The dialect is west midlands which is a Birmingham accent. Whereas, in the archers, the tone is more peaceful and calm even though there may be some drama within the plot of the show, it is calmer than the lady killers. Also, the dialect is standard English with a range of accents to reflect the diversity within the show.
The inflection of the lady killers with lucy Worsley is focused on exploring the history of notorious female criminals throughout British history. Worsley delves into their stories with a mix of storytelling and analysis. However, in the archers the inflection is characterised by its focus on the daily lives of the residents of the fictional village. The show combines drama, humour, and social commentary which creates a unique blend that has captivated their audience.
